The next stage of the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas (the Atlas) development will expand coverage to include all Crown lands in southern Ontario managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Area-specific land use policy will primarily come from the existing District Land Use Guidelines and other approved local plans.
The final stage of development will be to expand the Atlas to include the remaining area of the province considered the far north. There are established provincial parks, conservation reserves and wilderness areas in Ontario’s far north. These will constitute the bulk of area-specific land use information that will be initially included. Other applicable land use policy will be collected and consolidated in policy reports as well. As further land use direction is developed for the north, it will be included in the expanded Atlas.
Searches of Land Use Amendment Information:
Information about Crown land use amendments across the province (past and in progress) will soon be accessible via an online search tool.
Lake Trout Lake Search Tool :
The lake trout lake search index will be added to the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas and will allow the user to locate “designated” lake trout lakes across Ontario by land use area, geographic township or municipality.
