Sources of Policy Information

Land use policies are taken from a variety of sources. Most policies have been developed through broad to local-level land use planning.

Land use policies first incorporated in to the Atlas came from a variety of planning sources many of which (or portions thereof) have been retired. These include:

• District Land Use Guidelines (1983 as revised) - land use area management guidelines and strategies
• Ontario's Living Legacy Land Use Strategy (1999) - Appendix A
• Huronia District Crown Land Management Plan (1987)
• Leslie M. Frost Natural Resources Centre: Integrated Plan for Land Use and Resource Development (1980)
• Interim Land Use Plan for the McConnell Lakes Area (1980)

Other source documents that provide supplementary land use direction and/or are being maintained include:

More detailed management direction can often be found in site-specific plans that are prepared for provincial parks, conservation reserves and for some enhanced management areas.
